Tandem paragliding · Chambéry — Take off above Chambéry
Chambéry in view and Lake Bourget as a backdrop. A tandem paragliding flight launching from Vérel, between the Bauges and Chartreuse massifs.

Chambéry is the closest city to our base in La Motte-Servolex, and it's from its heights that the view is at its fullest: the Dukes of Savoy's castle and the old town's rooftops stand out clearly below, while Lake Bourget closes the horizon to the west. It's often the most beautiful part of the flight. We don't fly directly over the town centre: the flight takes place above the surrounding relief, with a clear view of the urban area and, further out, the lake.
The launch site is at Vérel, in the village of Sonnaz, right on the edge of Chambéry. The view gradually opens onto the Chambéry basin, framed by the Chartreuse massif on one side and the Bauges on the other, with the Croix du Nivolet acting as a landmark for every local pilot: you'll recognise it from above before we even point it out.
Vérel suits every one of our tandem paragliding formulas, from the gentle 10-15 minute discovery flight to the half-day hike & fly for those after the great outdoors. You take off running a few steps in tandem while the wing catches the air, then there's nothing left to do but enjoy the view. The pilot handles everything, including a smooth landing on a clear area.
We favour Vérel when conditions are calm: it's often the easiest site to extend the flight, following the Revard ridge wherever the thermals take you. Enough to turn a discovery flight into a noticeably longer moment, depending on the day's weather and how you feel like it.
It's a spot that appeals as much to locals curious to see their city from a new angle as to visitors passing through between business meetings. The train station and town centre are just a quarter of an hour from the launch site, a format that fits neatly into a half-day break.
