Lake Aiguebelette is the closest of Savoie's great natural lakes to Lyon: less than an hour's drive swaps the city's bustle for turquoise water tucked into the forest. It's also a protected, listed site, which makes the tandem flight here distinctive: fewer people, more nature, and a shoreline almost entirely bordered by forest rather than development.
The launch site is at Province, on the Épine massif, the wooded ridge that separates the lake from the Chambéry valley. From up there, the lake appears in full: its oval shape, green shores, and the rowing base that has hosted world championships. Turquoise water found nowhere else in the region, visible within the first minutes of the flight.
Lake Aiguebelette benefits from a protected status that strongly limits development along its shores, unlike its busier neighbours. The result: clean water, forest reaching almost to the water's edge, and a calm that's felt from the air too, far from the traffic and built-up areas of Lake Bourget.
The site suits our tandem paragliding formulas, from the 10-15 minute discovery flight to the prestige flight for a longer experience. If the day's schedule allows, many of our clients follow up with a swim in the warmest of Savoie's natural lakes, right after landing.
